Book Review- The Star Child

At the moment I am reading a book called the star child by Oscar Wilde. Now I will tell you the main parts of the book, this book is all about a child that is born from the sky, he is called the star child. The star child is very selfish and abuses the poor or anyone if they look ugly. One day a poor begger woman came to the star child and said that she was his mother, but the star child didn’t listen to the woman and threw rocks at her. Later the star child found out that the woman he threw rocks at  was actually his mother, so he started crying and set out to find his mother. This book is very enjoyable to read because you just want to keep reading it.  I recommend this book for everyone, because I think people of all ages will enjoy this book.

Inquiry Reflection

This term we have been focusing on how the media targets teenagers into buying their products. We learnt how the media uses different ways to sell things, in the ad they may use things such as catchy tunes, famous people, humor and lots more. One ad that has influenced me to buy their product is Starburst, when I saw the ad I went crazy for starburst, because of the humor and starpower and music in the ad. But now when I watch it it doesn’t convince me to buy it as easily as it could before we did this inquiry. After doing this inquiry unit it has made me think twice before I buy the product.

Book Review- Call of the Wild

At the moment I am reading a book, named ‘ The Call of the Wild’, by Jack London. And I will tell you the main parts of the book, that I have read. This book is all about a dog called Buck who is the leader of a group of dogs, life was good for Buck until some men came and took him away. Buck was torchered and scarred. Soon after he was sold to another man and had to pull heavy loads through the snow. Now Buck must find a way to get out of this place and go back to his normal life. But how? I recommend this book for 9 to 16 year old’s. It is action packed and gets you on the edge of your seat, and  I garanty you will love it.

Graduation Song

Everybody has to pick a song that defines them, and it will be played on graduation night. A song that defines me is Back in Black by AC/DC. I wil explain how it defines me by saying certain lines of the song and explain how it relates to me. In the song it says ‘I have been to long but I am glad to be back’. That relates to me because when I was 3 years old I came to Australia and went to Bangladesh when I was 5, and when I was 8 I came back to Australia, and I was glad to be back, because I had been too long in Bangladesh. It also says ‘nine lives’, which relates to me, because I have had nine serious illnesses, but I still survived. It also says ‘cats eyes’, that relates to me, because cats can see well in the dark, and so can I. So that is why I have chosen the song Back in Black and I also like this song.

Simon Goodwin

This is for my High Flyer researching a famous person from Adelaide.

Simon Goodwin also known as Goody, was born on the 26th of December 1976, Adelaide, South Australia and he is a professional footy player for the Adeaide Crows and is number 36. He weighs 86 kilograms and is 185 centimeters  tall. He is tha Captain of the Adelaide Crows at the moment and having a fantastic 2009 season being one of the people with a high good chance of maybe winning the Brownlow this year. Simon Goodwin has played 257 games for the Adelaide Crows and kicked 160 goals which is not bad considering he plays in the midfield. Simon has had a very succesful career so far playing in both of Adelaide’s premierships. Simon Goodwin also gained captaincy after the great Mark Ricciuto left the club in 2007. Goodwin has showed great leadership encouraging his teammates and leading the crows young side to fifth spot this year and maybe even the premiership. He has earned respect from his team and the young player look up to him and rank him very highly among the club and has also been able to maintain captaincy. Some of Simon’s achievements are winning Adelaide best and fairest in 2000,2005 and 2006 and also winning the Michael Tuck medal in 2006. So I hope you have learnt a bit more about Simon Goodwin because I sure have.

High Fyler Discussion

My mum and I had a discussion on the term three high flyers.  My mum said that she knows I can do it and the tasks are very easy, I am just not trying enough. I agreed with her on that. She also said not to leave everything for the last minute and in the end not be able to get a high flyer. She said that this time I can get one if I try and thinks that these high flyer tasks will help me later on in my life. So all I now need to do is walk the talk.

Book Review-Goal 3

Goal 3 is about Santiago playing in the world cup. The author is Robert Rigby. This book is fiction and non-fiction and gets you on the edge of your seat, so if you are a soccer fan this book is the one for you. But please read Goal and Goal 2 before you read Goal 3. In this book all is going well for Santiago and is excited about playing with Spain in the World Cup coming up but suddenly gets a serious injuiry. But luckily he recovered just in time for the world cup. So all is going fine for Spain until the semi-final when Santiago misses a penalty and it is all over for Spain. So if you like soccer, you’ll like Goal 3.

Impressionistic Art

Impressionistic art uses colour, line and shape to express the artists thoughts, feelings and ideas.

My art piece was called arches. I named it arches because the lines were shaped like arches and the colours I used were Flori orange, orange and maroon. I did that because it gave a great affect and a real good blend of colours.

I got the ideas of arches from arched windows. I also came up with the ideas by looking at a picture from the internet which looked really great.

40 Hour Famine

This year we are going to do the 40 hour famine. the 40 hour famine is when you give up something liike no food, technology, talking or furniture, to see what it feels like for those who have to do that every single day. I am familiar with the 40 hour famine because I did it last year, I gave up food and furniture. The 40 hour famine is a great thing and I really am looking forward to doing it this year.
